Police arrest one, search for another in connection to nearly $100,000 worth of stolen cigarettes

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police say they arrested a woman in connection to stealing nearly $100,000 worth of cigarettes in March.

Riverside Street Crimes Unit say they started investigating serial cigarette theft suspects. The suspects were known to go into a Walgreens store and carry bags full of cigarettes out the store without paying.

Officers arrested Jessica Barnett. Who they say admitted to stealing from at least one Walgreens every night for the past 30 days. They say Barnett also admitted she was then turning around and selling the stolen cigarettes to a north Tulsa convenience store.

Numerous packs and cartons of cigarettes were recovered from the north Tulsa store and traced back to multiple area retailers where they were stolen.

They arrested Barnett on four counts of grand larceny and two counts of petit larceny. This is an arrest, not a conviction.

They are searching for another suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.
