OWASSO, Okla. — Owasso Public Schools announced a change of plans for the upcoming school year.
Students will now be preparing for a “Pivot to Home” education plan according to a release from Owasso Public Schools.
The district released an FAQ page for parents to get more clarity about the plan.
The start date for students to return has also been pushed back from Thursday, August 13th to Monday, August 24th.
In a statement made on their website, Owasso Public Schools said: “This decision comes with the goal of protecting our students, staff and community, while also providing the best educational experience possible.”
In a previous plan released by the district’s website, it said it would rely on parents checking temperatures at home to ensure students with fevers don’t come back to school.
For parents who chose a virtual learning program called Acellus or Edgenuity, the option to opt out and and be taught by their individual teachers in the “Pivot to Home” program is available. Parents will have the opportunity to reevaluate these education options after each nine week period.
