NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon is being investigated by Norman police following an alleged assault.

FOX23 spoke with Mixon’s lawyer, Kevin Finlay, who said he’s been working with police but has not allowed Mixon to make any official statement as of Friday evening.

Finlay said that is because they are waiting for police to conclude their investigation and their own private investigation. He said that Mixon is not on the run despite rumors circulating that he is.

Mixon is an incoming freshman and has yet to play for the university.

Finlay said he believes Mixon did nothing wrong and said Mixon is looking forward to the truth coming out.

The alleged incident took place at Pickleman’s in Norman. FOX23 called the restaurant and they said they could not comment on the situation but have been working with police. The police report said that a female was hit in the face by a male subject.

The University of Oklahoma said they are aware of the matter and it is under internal review.

    Mixon has not been arrested.
