Oklahoma game wardens catch couple illegally fish shocking on Skiatook Lake

SKIATOOK, Okla. — An Oklahoma couple faces nearly $2,000 in fines after game wardens say they were illegally shocking fish in Skiatook Lake.

Shocking the fish doesn’t kill them but paralyzes them long enough to scoop them up. This allows people to catch large amounts of fish.

Game wardens got a tip about the couple. The caller was able to give a description of the couple’s car. Wardens then kept watch around boat ramps. They eventually caught the couple at Hominy Boat Landing.

The couple admitted to the act.

Game wardens want to remind everyone to safely and legally enjoy the great outdoors.
