OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Oklahoma is getting a new academy dedicated to helping the state reach the growing needs of the film and television industry.

The Oklahoma Film and Television Academy (OFTA) will open in the former Green Pastures Elementary School in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City Public Schools announced that on Monday night, the school board voted to sell the property to Green Pastures Studios LLC. They said the space will be converted into an academy and working film studio.

OFTA plans to start offering classes next month. It will offer courses in set design, lighting, post-production and more.

Earlier this year, Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a bill that gave a boost to the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program. The goal is to bring more, and larger, productions to the state.
