The tweet comes almost a week after some fans took to social media after to ridicule the country music star for appearing like was endorsing Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.

Brooks responded to Barry Sanders and looked to be in for #Number20for2020.

Brooks performed in front of more than 70,000 fans in Detroit that night -- and did so in a No. 20 “Sanders” jersey.

Brooks rocked the No. 20 jersey once worn by former Oklahoma State running back and Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders.

Many fans who were apparently unfamiliar with the connection didn’t take kindly to seeing the photo Brooks posted to his Instagram.

  • “Love you, hate the shirt. Trump2020”
  • “Weird. That a millionaire would like a socialist. Hey Garth are you going to distribute your millions?”
  • “Sanders? Really? So out of touch!”
  • “YESSSSSSSSSS, SANDERS FOR PRESIDENT, YOU THE BEST GARTH.”

The Detroit Lions tweeted Friday in support of the Barry Sanders-Garth Brooks ticket.
