Oklahoma voters will have seven Democratic and 12 Republican candidates to choose from on the March 1, 2016 Presidential Preferential Primary ballot, Oklahoma State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax said Thursday.
Candidate filing for the presidential primary closed Wednesday at 5 p.m.
“This is the most presidential candidates we’ve had file since Oklahoma’s first presidential primary in 1988, which also had 19 candidates,” Ziriax said.
Candidates also filed for various school board races at county election boards across the state this week. Annual School Elections will be in February 9, 2016, with runoffs scheduled April 5, if needed.
Filing for other federal, state and county offices scheduled for the regular 2016 elections will be April 13-15, with a Statewide Primary Election June 28, Runoff Election Aug. 23 and the General Election on Nov. 8, 2016.
