TULSA, Okla. — A new campaign is trying to reach some conservatives and others who still have reservations about getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
A new Kaiser poll shows that 30 percent of conservatives are still not confident in the vaccine.
“It’s Up To You” is a campaign with the Ad Council, Infectious Diseases Society of America, and COVID Collaborative pushing for these people to get the shots sooner than later.
Dr. Douglas Drevets, Chief of Infectious Diseases at OU Health, is reaching out to Oklahomans who are on the fence about the vaccine and educating them.
Drevets says the vaccine is making an impact in the state as COVID-19-related hospitalizations have remained low.
Republicans and evangelical Christians make up 30 percent of each group that’s less confident in the vaccine. Some Oklahomans FOX23 talked to say the vaccine should be a choice. One woman against the vaccine says she doesn’t want anything that’s not already made up of her genetics.
