• Muskogee women accused of duct-taping, injuring five-year-old boy plead no contest

    MUSKOGEE, Okla. - Quick facts:

    Two women pleaded no contest in Muskogee on charges of child abuse and child neglect.

    Rachel Stevens and Kayla Jones were both arrested in Muskogee in January 2016.

    Muskogee police said the arrests came after they were called to a hospital in Tulsa to check on a child with severe injuries on Dec. 8, 2015.

    That child was referred to a Tulsa hospital after it was brought to a Muskogee clinic.

    An affidavit said the five-year-old boy had several broken bones in different stages of healing. He also had cuts to his face and had begun having seizures.

    Police said the situation was appalling.

    Police said the boy suffered a number of injuries and his eyes were duct taped.

    Both women reportedly pleaded no contest to child abuse. They were sentenced to 20 years in prison.
