MUSKOGEE, Okla. — A Muskogee student was detained by campus police after they brought an unloaded BB gun to the 7th & 8th Grade Academy at Ben Franklin Thursday morning, Muskogee Public Schools said.

The school district has not said why the student brought the gun or what their intentions were.

“The district will follow school board policy on possession of a BB gun and the appropriate disciplinary actions will be followed,” said Steve Braun with Muskogee Public Schools said in a statement. “Muskogee Public Schools is dedicated to ensuring that student safety is our highest priority.”
