Tulsa Police Officer Megan Leslie said the victim’s car was missing.

Around 10 a.m. on Wednesday, police said they located the victim’s car parked at the Super 8 Motel near east 31st street and south Memorial drive in east Tulsa.

Detectives reportedly found the suspects Andre Roberts and Candace McGrew in the parking lot near the victim’s vehicle.

Officers took the two into custody after a nearby witness told them that Roberts and McGrew told them what they did. The witness was told by the two suspects that the female suspect McGrew, had exchanged sexual favors with the victim a couple days prior to the shooting. The day after that Roberts, McGrew, and a juvenile went back to the victim’s apartment and shot him, the witness told police. Roberts also reportedly told the witness that he “got the car” out of the deal.

McGrew waived her Miranda rights and then stated she met the victim the day before, earning some money, reportedly. She said she returned, then left, knowing the victim would be getting money.

McGrew returned for a third time, but with Roberts, who reportedly shot the victim, ransacked the apartment for the money, and then left.

Roberts told police he was not the mastermind and refused to answer any questions after he waived his Miranda rights, police said.

Roberts is facing charges for first-degree homicide and domestic assault and battery. McGrew is facing charges for first-degree homicide.

Sumner was taken to the hospital where he later died, police said.
