Police release information on chase with suspect claiming to be Moorish citizen

CATOOSA, Okla. — A man is in jail Wednesday morning after a chase with Rogers County deputies in Catoosa ended in east Tulsa.

Deputies say they stopped Sammie Markeith Young for a traffic violation around 12:30 a.m. near the Hard Rock Casino in Catoosa before the chase started.

Young allegedly gave the deputy fake information before claiming to be a Moorish Sovereign Citizen.

The deputy walked back to his car to get something and that’s when they say Young tried to run him over before driving away on I-44.

Deputies chased Young on the highway and along side streets before he stopped in east Tulsa near 21st and 109th East Avenue. Authorities found him hiding behind a home nearby.
