• Men identified in fatal trooper-involved shooting


    OKMULGEE COUNTY, Okla. - Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials confirmed with FOX23 that a trooper shot and killed one person Friday night.

    Troopers responded to assist stranded motorists stuck in high water near Hectorville Road and Bixby Road in Okmulgee County Friday night.

    Captain Paul Timmons told FOX23 troopers found brothers Nehemiah and Brandon Fischer trying to push a vehicle out of high water.

    Timmons said troopers repeatedly asked the two to get out of the high water. Troopers tried to get the two out of the water when a physical altercation ensued.

    One trooper was physically assaulted and at least one trooper fired shots killing Nehemiah Fischer, 35.

    Timmons said that a gun was recovered from one of the suspects.

    Brandon Fischer, 40, was arrested and booked into the Okmulgee County Jail for assaulting a police officer and public intoxication.

    No troopers were injured.
