Uber driver arrested after hitting, killing passenger with car in south Tulsa, police say

TULSA, Okla. — A man is dead after getting hit by his Uber driver in south Tulsa early Friday morning.

Tulsa police say the driver Omar Baabbad and the man -- his passenger -- got into some kind of altercation in the car near 71st Street and South Sheridan.

The passenger got out of the car and police say Baabbad hit him with the car in a parking lot, saying he had been threatened with a gun, according to police.

Police say witnesses told them the man was trying to walk away, saying he felt threatened but never showed any kind of weapon before he was hit.

Officers didn’t find a gun at the scene.

Police say Baabbad is facing first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon charges.

The victim died later that morning in the hospital.
