Man accused of killing Tulsa police sergeant had spit on him in 2006 arrest

TULSA, Okla. — David Anthony Ware is accused in the recent shooting death of Tulsa Police Sgt. Craig Johnson -- but it isn’t the first time the two men crossed paths.

An arrest report, filled out by Johnson in 2006, details one of Ware’s previous run-ins with the Tulsa Police Department including the man he’s now accused of killing.

Johnson and another officer found Ware intoxicated in an apartment complex parking lot.

Johnson arrested him for public intoxication and public indecency.

While in police custody, Ware spit on Johnson -- adding another crime to his arrest report.

Ware pleaded guilty to all three charges at the time and was sentenced to probation and community service.
