Recovering Tulsa officer gives heartfelt update

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department posted a video on Wednesday to thank the Tulsa community for the support shown after the shooting of Sgt. Craig Johnson and Officer Aurash Zarkeshan.

Johnson died in the June 29 shooting, while Zarkeshan continues recovering.

Their video was filled with messages of thanks including those from Chief Wendell Franklin, Mayor G.T. Bynum, and Johnson’s family.

At the end of the video, Zarkeshan himself offers his own message of thanks to the Tulsa community.

“Thank you Tulsa for your continued love and support through my recovery,” Zarkeshan says.

“I can’t wait to be back home.”

He recently left a Tulsa hospital to recover at a specialized rehab facility.
