Homeowner shoots at intruders, police still searching for suspect

TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa family was sleeping when two intruders broke into their home overnight, police said.

Police responded to the home in the 800 block of N. New Haven Ave around 1:30 a.m. and found the husband bleeding from the head, police said.

The husband told police two men broke into the home and were asking about money.

Police said the husband was pistol whipped and then was able to take the gun from one of the suspects and shot both suspects.

One of the men was found in the one of the bedrooms with a gunshot wound to the head, police said.

Police said the suspect was transported to the hospital where he later died.

The second suspect has not been found.

The husband was taken to the hospital to be checked out. He is expected to be okay.

A woman and a child inside the home at the time were not hurt, police said.
