BIXBY, Okla. — Harmony Bridge in Bixby is complete, after a more than a year of construction.
In January 2020, the city announced they would start work on the pedestrian bridge just west of Memorial (US-64) over the Arkansas River.
Phase 1, which included washing and painting the bridge as well as replacing fencing, took about 4 months. Phase 2 kicked off in October 2020 adding surfacing, lights and shade structures. The project bid was awarded to Myers-Cherry.
Today the bridge officially opened with a shaded dining area, plastic lounge seats looking out over the river and even a love lock structure where people can attach padlocks with their initials to the bridge to leave their mark.
