Community shows support at Tulsa police sergeant’s funeral Thursday

TULSA, Okla. — The community showed extraordinary support at the funeral for a Tulsa police sergeant who was shot and killed during a traffic stop.

Sgt. Craig Johnson’s funeral was held July 9, at 1 p.m. at Victory Christian Church.

The services will be open to the public and masks will be provided for those who don’t have them.

Police down 61st between Lewis and 129th starting around 2:30 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. for the procession. They are expecting this closure to last a few hours.

Johnson died after being shot multiple times during a traffic stop in east Tulsa on June 29. David Anthony Ware and Matthew Hall are facing charges in connection to the shooting.

Ware is also accused of shooting Officer Aurash Zarkeshan whose condition is improving.
