Firefighters statewide travel to Tulsa to receive training for disaster situations

TULSA, Okla. — Firefighters from all over Oklahoma traveled to Tulsa this week to receive life-saving training exercises.

Members of Oklahoma Task Force 1 attended a hands-on training class on structural collapse, learning how to save people in case of disaster situations.

From learning how to breach concrete to sifting through rubble, training exercises like these help prepare search and rescue teams for terrorist attacks like the Oklahoma City Bombing and Sept. 11.

Members traveled from Lawton, Oklahoma City, Edmond, Skiatook, Broken Arrow and other surrounding cities to participate in this class hosted by Oklahoma State University Fire Service Training (OSUFT).
