Lafortune Tower fire ruled accidental, started on fourth floor

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Fire investigator has determined that the cause of an early morning fire at LaFortune Tower near W 17th St and Southwest Blvd is accidental.

Firefighters say the call came in just before 4 Tuesday morning. They were at the apartment building for more than 2 hours putting out the fire and making sure it was safe for residents to go back inside.

Andy Little with the Tulsa Fire Department says the fire started in an apartment on the 4th floor. Firefighters had to rescue a man from that apartment but he is expected to be okay.

Little says there were no major injuries and no one inside of the building was transported to the hospital, but some people were treated for smoke inhalation on the scene.

Just before 8am firefighters were called back to the apartments because of another alarm, they investigated and didn’t find a second fire.
