Fire breaks out at vacant duplex in south Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — Firefighters are working to determine a cause after a large fire caused heavy damage in a vacant duplex early Saturday.

Firefighters responded to the home near 63rd Street and South Peoria around 5:30 a.m. and saw heavy smoke and flames when they arrived.

The fire went through the roof of the unit, firefighters said.

Firefighters said there was evidence of people living illegally inside the home which was boarded up and considered abandoned.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
