EMSA reports more calls as COVID-19 numbers surge

TULSA, Okla. — Coronavirus cases are surging in Green Country. The rising number of cases is putting a strain on the short-staffed EMSA crews.

Just Monday, EMSA responded to 82 possible COVID-19 related calls. Crews also face taking patients to hospitals and having to wait because there’s no bed space available.

“This is in no way, shape, or form of us pointing fingers at local hospitals. They are in the same shape we are,” says Deputy Chief of Public Affairs Adam Paluka. “When you add in bed delays, people who are out for COVID exposure or positive tests, there’s just a lot of stuff happening right now and we’re trying to find creative solutions to help our team and our community.”

EMSA is currently working on recruiting out-of-state hires. They have launched joinemsa.com to help attract candidates.
