TULSA, Okla. — Quick Facts:

  • New proposal would develop land near 51st and Aspen for apartments and office buildings
  • The land was originally designed for a large employment center
  • Details on the plan are expected to be presented to City Council in the future

More buildings could be built along the Broken Arrow Expressway in east Tulsa as new land proposals go through.

One new proposal for a large piece of land near the Tulsa-Broken Arrow line would set the path for more apartments and office buildings along the highway. The 74-acre plot of land near East 51st Street and Aspen Avenue was originally designed for a large employment center but it has sat empty and undeveloped.

Tulsa City Councilor Connie Dodson told FOX23 it's time to let someone else with a vision develop the area and see what they can do to spur some growth.

More specific plans are expected to be presented to Tulsa City Council in the future.
