WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. — Around 1,000 lockboxes were delivered to the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office today for Project Safe Solutions.

The Wagoner County Sheriffs Office, Regional Prevention Coordinator Director for Region 5 and Think Smart Oklahoma have teamed together to donate 1,000 portable lockboxes to Wagoner County residents.

RPC Region 5 Director Terri Garrett says each deputy will carry lockboxes in their patrol cars. They are there, free of charge, for anyone they think needs one—or if they’re reached out to about one.

She says Wagoner County has a high rate of drug overdoses and a high report rate of people getting prescription drugs in the county.

Garrett says it’s also helpful given the pandemic—kids are at home and are more prone to get in their parents medicine cabinets.
