TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Thursday they say opened fire on someone for dinging the door of his truck repeatedly while being parked in a convenience store parking lot.

Tee-Jay Norris was arrested on one count of shooting with intent to kill after deputies say he grew increasingly upset over a door ding at a small shopping center near the 6500 block of Charles Page Boulevard.

TCSO Sgt. Mike Moore said it was one of the most ridiculous of reasons he’s seen in his career where someone could’ve been killed.

“We’ve heard all of the reasons in the book about why someone opened fire on someone, and this has to be one of the most minor of incidents to escalate into something like this,” Moore said.

The incident played out clearly on nearby security cameras, but it took a week to track down Norris who actually resides in Mayes County. Moore said Norris just happened to be in Sand Springs visiting a relative when the incident happened.

According to his arrest report, Norris told “the kid” he was aiming for “that’s how people get shot in this part of town.”

Norris fired a total of three shots. One while he was parked and two as he sped away from the convenience store.
