BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — A Bartlesville family is mourning after their father died from COVID-19 only weeks after beating cancer.
Victor Rocha, 56, was diagnosed with leukemia in 2019, later getting a bone marrow transplant and chemotherapy which wrapped up in the first week of December.
“Even though that last chemo really did do him in for a bit, he was still for the most part, fine,” said Rocha’s oldest son Jimmy.
“He was seeing doctors less and less, he had less appointments. I mean they were giving us all the good news, and then once COVID hit, that changed,” he said.
A week after beating cancer, doctors diagnosed Rocha with COVID-19 and died due to the virus on Jan. 6.
