Apple Studios gives first look at ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ film in Oklahoma

The film’s release date has yet to be announced

OSAGE COUNTY, Okla. — UPDATE: Crews with “Killers of the Flower Moon” have wrapped up filming on Kihekah Avenue in Pawhuska.

The set has attracted attention from fans and tourists for three months. The set has been taken down but filming continues on the movie staring Leonardo DiCaprio. Filming will take part in other parts of Pawhuska and Fairfax through September.

Filming continues for the Martin Scorsese film “Killers of the Flower Moon” in Oklahoma, and Apple Studios gave people their first look.

The image released Monday shows stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Lily Gladstone together in a dining room in a scene yet to be described by the moviemakers.

Filming based on the best-selling nonfiction book of the same name has been happening in the Tulsa, Bartlesville and Osage County areas this spring and is expected to go on into the summer.

In the film, DiCaprio plays Ernest Burkhart, the nephew of powerful rancher William Hale -- played by Robert De Niro -- who used brute force to control his corner of Oklahoma in the 1920s, according to Vanity Fair.

Gladstone plays Mollie Burkhart, an Osage woman who falls in love with Burkhart.

FOX23 got a look at film crews as they built reconstructed buildings to set the scene in Pawhuska.

There’s a heavy sheriff and police presence are on sight making sure no one gets too close to the set. They stop traffic whenever a scene is rolling.

The film’s release date has yet to be announced.
