Officials find 30 dead animals on Muskogee ranch

Deputies find more than 100 dead animals on Muskogee ranch

MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Muskogee deputies found 30 animals dead on a farm and are calling it one of the worst cases of animal abuse they’ve ever seen.

The discovery was made on a ranch near Highway 75 near 23rd Street.

Dan McWilliams was booked in the Muskogee County Jail and deputies said they are working around the clock to piece everything together and determine why this happened.

Deputies received an anonymous call Saturday to go check on the welfare of the animals.

“We’ve got 100 head of cows of maybe 80 or 90 head of horses,” said Sheriff Charles Pearson.

When deputies got to the property they found animals dead along the fences.

“We assume it’s neglect but we still have to make sure there is no disease that is causing this problem,” Pearson said.

Deputies had to chase McWilliams down on the property. He is being held on charges of animal neglect.
