Tulsa police used to be featured on the show periodically but declined to renew the show's contract in 2017. This marks the first time since then that TPD will be involved in the show.

Mayor G.T. Bynum commented on the announcement Friday:

"I supported the cancellation of Live PD previously because I felt the presence of a television camera crew served as a distraction for our officers in the field. I have since come to appreciate that our training staff greatly values the footage from the show as it allows them to teach from real life scenarios at our academy. If our officers are comfortable with the crews, then I have no problem with it.I also think we've spent a lot of time in the last few years discussing the way our officers go about their job in the community. As I've experienced personally, it can be valuable to see it for yourself rather than to rely on the assertions of others. Tulsans will benefit from seeing the work their police officers do every day."
LivePD is Back

The A&E television show LivePD is returning to Tulsa and to the Tulsa Police Department. LivePD will be filming with select officers across all three uniform divisions. The filming will start in East Tulsa’s Mingo Valley Division and rotate through other divisions as the season progresses. This is a unique opportunity to showcase the great men and women of the Tulsa Police Department to the rest of the world, and the great work they do day-in and day-out. The Tulsa Police Department has some of the highest employment standards in the nation and we look forward to LivePD’s format highlighting the training and professionalism of our officers. This season of LivePD will demonstrate the response based policing and community policing efforts of the officers as they respond to calls for service. After spending time at the Mingo Valley Division, LivePD will rotate throughout the city, following officers that represent a diverse cross section of those who serve the citizens of Tulsa. The first show airs this Friday, September 20th from 8 to 11 p.m. Live PD on A&E
