• Law enforcement finds explosive in vehicle near Sperry

    SPERRY, Okla. - Quick facts:

    • Sperry police say they, along with other local law enforcement, are investigating after officers discovered vehicle with an explosive in it Tuesday.
    • Officers say they were searching a vehicle for narcotics during a traffic stop on West Birch Place when they found a homemade explosive in the the trunk of the vehicle.
    • They say Tulsa police worked to dismantle the explosive, which was made of two plastic bottles filled with lead buckshot and connected to a battery pack.
    • The area was contained and some residents from eight area homes were evacuated as a safety measure.
    • A person of interest will be released until testing from federal authorities comes back.
