Joe Exotic tests positive for COVID-19

While he continues his fight to get out of prison, the Tiger King has been fighting COVID-19.

Joe Exotic regularly talks to FOX23 investigative reporter Janna Clark. He called her to tell her how he’s been doing, and talk about his federal case.

Joe says before he could be transferred back to federal prison in Butner, N.C., he tested positive in Oklahoma for COVID-19.

Joe said he was initially taken to the emergency room, and he dealt with vomiting. He said it can be hard to breathe sometimes, but he is starting to feel better.

As for Joe’s federal case, at his resentencing in January, an Oklahoma City federal judge took one year off Joe’s 22 year sentence.

Joe’s attorneys say they plan to file a motion any day for a new trial.

That’s when the court will have to decide whether Joe’s convictions can stand. FOX23 has reached out to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, but they cannot comment because the case is pending.
