TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office released the names of the victim and suspect involved in a deadly crash and police chase from Friday.

Deputies said 48-year-old William Joseph Houseman died after the chase suspect, 33-year-old Michael Leon Johnson, crashed into his car.

The chase started when deputies spotted a 2004 Dodge Ram that the owner reported stolen. Deputies tried to pull the truck over near Admiral and 129th East Avenue, but Johnson drove away instead, officials said.

When Johnson crashed into Houseman’s car near 11th and 129th, he tried to run away from the truck, officials said. Deputies quickly caught him.

After he was treated for injuries related to the crash, officials released Johnson from the hospital and booked him into the Tulsa County jail.

Investigators released the two other people in the truck with Johnson. They told deputies they were held against their will during the chase.
