Burglary victim puts suspect in critical condition

TULSA, Okla. — Quick Facts:

  • Tulsa Police responded to a burglary call at 9:30 p.m.
  • The homeowner confronted the suspects and shot at them
  • A suspect vehicle dropped one man off at the hospital

Tulsa police had a burglary suspect delivered to the hospital Sunday night.

Officers first began their investigation as a first degree burglary call at 9:30 p.m. near 119th East Avenue and East Admiral Place in east Tulsa.

Officers later said it was a home invasion incident, but changed to a first degree burglary after they found the suspects did not have weapons.

There, the victim told officers that two people kicked in her front door. She went back to her bedroom and got her gun.

She confronted the suspects and fired three shots; one of the shots hit a suspect still inside the house.

About 20 minutes later, a car matching the description of what the suspects used to get away dropped off a shooting victim at Hillcrest.

Officers went to the hospital, but had to wait to question the suspect because he went straight into surgery. The hospital first listed the victim in serious condition.

According to detectives, his condition was downgraded to critical condition. FOX23 is in touch with investigators to get updates as his condition changes.

The car that dropped him off did not stay at the hospital.

The homeowner was not hurt and will likely not face charges because officers believe she was defending herself.
