SAND SPRINGS, Okla. — A Sand Springs business made a surprising discovery while renovating their new location and has embraced it as part of their new store.
"OkieSpice" spent the past six months renovating their new store on Main Street in Sand Springs. They just opened last week.
As they worked, they discovered a brick wall behind the sheet rock with a historic Coca-Cola mural hidden underneath.
A local artist, Johnny Rice, restored part of the "ghost mural" that was missing and it is now proudly on display in the store.
The owners are not sure when the mural was painted, but said the building was built in 1920.
Historians at the Sand Springs Museum said they are researching when the mural was painted and who is behind it.
OkieSpice sells Oklahoma-made products including spices, salsas, sauces, gifts and more.
