TULSA, Okla. — Contractors began working Monday on renovations at Tulsa's historic Church Studio.
Organizers released renderings in September of the additions planned as crews work through renovations.
The additions will be located to the south of the church itself so not to interfere with the site's National Landmark status.
The Church Studio was purchased by Leon Russell in 1972. Russell, Tom Petty, and several other legendary artists used the studio to record during its heyday.
Current owners Ivan Acosta and Teresa Knox are currently working to renovate the church before opening it up for recording, as well as a museum and community space.
The church is expected to be completed by late 2020.
