• Severe weather leads to closures, cancellations in Green Country


    TULSA, Okla. - Quick Facts:

    Several Green Country schools and business have closed this week after severe weather left damage and flooding across the area.

    Closings started pouring into the newsroom as storms moved through Green Country on Monday.


    Skiatook Public Schools closed Wednesday, May 22nd because of flood conditions. Officials said at this time they plan on having school Thursday and Friday to finish the school year.

    The district has completed enough hours to meet the state required hours of instruction for a school year so we will not be making up the two days missed. Graduation will still be held on Friday, May 24th at the Brooks Walton Activity Center.

    Bixby and Sperry schools closed on Wednesday due to flooding concerns.

    Jenks Public Schools decided to cancel for the rest of the week, Thursday and Friday, because of Arkansas River flooding. Jenks Riverwalk is closed due to the conditions.

    Much of Green Country continued to suffer from flooding Thursday -- prompting more closures.

    The Tulsa Zoo is closed Thursday as they wait for water to recede.

    The Gathering Place will open at 9 a.m. Thursday, but the sports courts and surrounding trail areas will remain closed until further notice.

    The hotel at River Spirit Casino resort will be closed until Sunday. If you had reservations we will be processing refunds as soon as possible.

    Paradise Cove events Rocktopia and The Southern Momma Cledus T Judd Comedy Experience are canceled and refunds are being processed.
