• Deputies arrest Muskogee County man in connection to suspicious death from 2017

    MUSKOGEE, Okla. - Deputies with the Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in connection with a suspicious death.

    The sheriff said they were called to an emergency medical call in the beginning of November 2017 and found Robert Wilson unresponsive in his truck.

    The sheriff said Wilson was assaulted, and they found blunt force trauma to his head.

    Through their investigation, detectives determined Kevin Shanks was behind the death.

    Deputies arrested Shanks Monday on manslaughter charges.

    The sheriff said the two were acquaintances, and Shanks admitted he hit the victim, causing him to hit the ground. Then, Shanks reportedly kicked Wilson several times as he lay on the ground.

    The sheriff said he's pleased that they were able to arrest the suspect and get justice and closure for Wilson's family.
