Car hits gas meter, causes fire in north Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — Quick Fact:

  • Car crashed into a gas meter near Pine and N. Sheridan
  • It happened early Sunday morning
  • Two houses in the area were evacuated
  • A witness said the driver was outside the car on the ground when the car caught fire
  • The driver reportedly suffered a broken leg, and the five people in the car are OK
  • ONG crews worked for hours to safely shut down the gas in the area
  • Fire crews then put out the flames there
  • Crews were able to cap the leak Sunday afternoon
