Bystander tackles man accused of firing gunshots outside Brookside bar

TULSA, Okla. — A man is in custody after police say he was firing gunshots in the middle of a Brookside street early Friday morning.

Tulsa police were called to the area near 34th Street and Peoria around 2 a.m. amid reports of a person firing a gun in the road.

Witnesses told police that Antonio Henderson got into an argument with a group nearby then got into his car and started to drive away.

According to police, Henderson stopped in the middle of the road and started firing a gun down toward the ground. Meanwhile, a bystander nearby told police he thought Henderson was going to fire toward a group of people nearby and tackled him.

The bystander managed to take the gun from Henderson and restrained him until officers arrived at the scene.

Officers arrested Henderson after he was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. He is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon, reckless handling of a firearm, and public intoxication.
