Broken Arrow parents debate 8th grade academy or traditional middle school

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — On April 28 Broken Arrow Schools spoke with parents at Sequoyah Middle School about the possible creation of a new 8th grade academy.

School leaders presented plans for two options for the $30 million 2015 bond issue.

One option would be for a traditional middle school. With the cost of construction up 52%, the new middle school would have to be smaller than first envisioned.

The other would create a new 8th grade academy at Sequoya Middle School, gathering all of the districts 8th graders in one school.

Another community forum will be held on May 3rd at 6pm at Sequoyah Middle School.
