Tulsa Police booked Melody Cullom, 43, in connection to Herman Barnes' death on Saturday. Jail records show she was booked at 2:30 on Monday and faces First-Degree Murder and First-Degree Burglary charges.

Tulsa Police expect the 42-year-old woman suspected of killing Herman Barnes, 72, to be released  from the hospital today and taken into policy custody.

FOX23 News is not releasing the suspect’s name until she has been arrested.

TPD Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker says the suspect is facing First-Degree Murder Charges.

Detectives believe the suspect and Barnes knew each other and the suspect owed Barnes $21. When police arrived on scene they found Barnes’ door kicked in. Police do not believe this is a domestic situation and this is not a case of self-defense.

Detectives say the two struggled out in the yard where Barnes may have shot the suspect in the arm with his own gun and then the suspect was able to get the gun. Barnes was shot in the stomach and hand and died.

An elderly man is dead and the suspect is in the hospital.

Tulsa Police Homicide Sergeant Dave Walker tells FOX23 News a 72-year-old man was shot by a 42-year-old woman in a home in the 1500 block of N. Frankfort Saturday night.

Detectives believe there was a fight that was not domestic related but the suspect lives near the victim.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital and is expected to be charged in connection to the homicide.
