Tax-free weekend begins in Oklahoma, some businesses offer special deals

TULSA, Okla. — Tax-free weekend begins Friday, August 6. The event will lower prices on hundreds of products for parents shopping for a new school year.

J. Spencer has been in business in Green Country for more than 20 years. Rachel Ward is the store manager at their Utica Square location and they began tax-free weekend on Thursday.

In an effort to make things easier on customers, and to avoid people wanting items that don’t fall under tax-free guidelines, the store is offering 10% off of everything.

Ward told FOX23 that the sales boost that comes with the weekend is a huge help as we continue to deal with the pandemic-related business bust.

That boost is an even bigger deal for their store near 81st and Memorial that’s been plagued by current construction and a subsequent deeper dip in customers walking through the door.

The store is closed on Sundays, but by starting their sales on Thursday, they are still offering three days of discounted shopping.
