TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Tahlequah Public Schools has released their updated COVID-19 protocols ahead of the new school year.
The district says that masks are optional but encouraged. Social distancing will be promoted when possible. If a student is sick or has tested positive for COVID-19, parents should keep the student at home and notify their school.
If an employee or student tests positive, they must isolate. They may return to school when the following conditions are met:
- At least ten days have passed since the symptoms appeared
- At least 24 hours have passed with no fever and no fever medication
- Symptoms have improved
- If an employee or student is asymptomatic, they may return ten days from their positive test
The CDC recommends quarantine for anyone who has had close contact with someone with the virus, unless they are vaccinated.
Staff members will also follow contract tracing. Schools will disinfect surfaces throughout the day.
Tahlequah begins the school year on August 12.
