TULSA, Okla. - New “Little Libraries” are coming to some medium-to-low income Tulsa communities by the end of the week.
The libraries are a project of the Tulsa Crime Prevention Network and Tulsa Police.
Tulsa Crime Prevention Network executive director Karen Gilbert said they are going to use donated newspaper stands from the Tulsa World to supply with books for kids to borrow.
The group plans to clean out the boxes and decorate them with a superhero theme. Then they’ll fill the boxes with donated books for neighborhood children to read for free.
Gilbert said she is working with the Tulsa Apartment Authority to decide which apartment complex will get the first Little Libraries.
