George spent the previous six years reporting in his home state of Connecticut for NBC Connecticut, WVIT- TV and Fox CT, WTIC-TV. He’s been nominated for several New England Emmys for breaking news, political and investigative reporting.
George covered major breaking news stories including the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the Boston Marathon bombings and manhunt, Hurricanes Sandy and Irene, the Aaron Hernandez murders and major winter storms. He also reported from the courtroom for the Cheshire murder, Boston bomber and Aaron Hernandez trials. George was a part of the Peabody Award-winning team for coverage of the Sandy Hook school shooting, and frequently uses social media to break news.
His reporting into crumbling concrete foundations in Connecticut led the Governor to call for a state investigation. George’s stories also led to new legislation and criminal indictments.
Prior to his journalism career, George worked in a family real estate and restaurant business. He also ran for the Connecticut State Senate in 2008.
A Providence College alum, George first worked as a researcher for NBC Olympics at the 2000 Sydney Games. While at Providence, he majored in political science and was a member of the baseball team. He graduated high school from Suffield Academy.
