• Union looking for more than 6A-I title repeat

    • Union is looking to repeat as 6A-I state champions in football after beating Norman North, 57-43, for the 2016 title
    • The Redskins return five starters on offense and five starters on defense
    • It's a three quarterback race for the starting job, with junior Peyton Thompson holding a slight edge over seniors Cade Farquhar and Tyler Fisher early in preseason practice
    • Union is loaded at receiver, led by Oklahoma State commit CJ Moore along with AK Wilson
    • Head coach Kirk Fridrich says there's about a handful of seniors with division one scholarship offers
    • The Redskins will turn to Darius Boone and Keviyon Cooper at running back to replace Shamari Brooks, who is now playing for the University of Tulsa
    • Senior linebacker Braden Spicer says, "We want to be one of those teams, you know, one of those, 'Woah' teams, that you look back on and you're like, 'Wow, they went undefeated.' For example, 2002 Union team - they went undefeated. And they end up winning the state championship, blowing everyone out. We want to be like that - we want to be better than that. We want to be one of those teams that history looks back on as like, 'Wow.'"
