This will be a very short blog entry.
Why? Two reasons:
1) I've been remodeling my house, I'm kind of tired, and the amount of rest I get is more important than you getting a long blog.
B) Sons of Anarchy is on tonight. I'm going home to watch it. You should too. It's a good show. It's a better show than this is a blog. OK. That's not saying much but just humor me, ok? If you would just leave a comment saying how much you like this blog, I will thank you ... then call you a liar.
Aaaanyways, back to the actual point of the blog. Who's the conference realignment winner on a busy day of conference realignment news?
ORU is smarter because it's leaving a conference that required nearly day-long road trips in buses during blizzards and joining a conference that's all Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas trips.
West Virginia is dumber because it's leaving a conference that makes geographical sense to join a conference where its 870 miles away from its nearest conference opponent.
Looks like a clear win for the Golden Eagles, except ...
Yup, there's an exception. The Mountaineers might have some VERY long road trips, but they'll have a lot of money in their pockets when they do it. West Virginia will make millions more in the Big 12 than the Big East. And last I checked, millions of dollars is a lot of money. It's more than I make in a week. So that's saying something.
So, in summary, West Virginia is the conference realignment winner! Why? Because money is fun to have. I wish I had more of it. If you would like to give me some, e-mail me at nthompson@fox23.com, and we will make arrangements.
This blog was not so short after all. Time to go home. Sons of Anarchy is calling my name.
