TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The University of Tulsa has a new fuzzy mascot that reflects its Golden Hurricane nickname.
It's not a student in a costume but a golden retriever, who will be roaming the football sidelines starting with the Sept. 7 home opener against Colorado State.
Goldie is nearly five months old and the Tulsa World reports (http://is.gd/mQpMTw ) she'll make her first public appearance on Aug. 21 at a Tulsa Drillers baseball game. ONEOK Field has a "Bark in the Park" promotion that day.
Goldie will sniff her way around pre-game tailgate parties and serve as a TU ambassador at other functions, too.
She's the first live mascot the school has had in decades.
