Don't have kids, maybe someday. These days I have my hands full with a less intelligent and much more hairy responsibility.
Over the course of my two year stint at FOX23, I've done two stories on dogs.
Over the course of my two year stint at FOX23, I now own two dogs.
Dusty is part shepherd, part lab and part skitzo. He's lovable and a great companion, but he couldn't stand guard to a ham and cheese sandwich. His past is a complete mystery, after showing up at a local vet's doorstep (literally), Dust ended up at the Tulsa Animal Welfare center. Timing is everything in a relationship, and it just so happens his intake to the shelter was the same week I was doing a story about overcrowding. You could say I pulled him off of death row, but honestly, I just think it was a "right place" "right time" arrangement.
Trent is part terrier, and part terror to my carpet and absolver of any and all leftover food that isn't meant for him. He once ate an entire freshly baked bunt cake right off the counter, the plate didn't even move. He looked like a snake that had just eaten, but it stayed down. I lost dessert for a week. Impressive to be sure. What's less impressive, is this happened before he was completely house broken. There weren't enough paper towels in the world for what I had to clean up the next morning.
This story doesn't have a moral to it, but either I'm the SPCA's best customer or a complete fool for trying to own a couple of pups on the eratic schedule of a sportscaster. Still you can't beat that unconditional love.
